Diflucanis an oral treatment for vaginal thrush, also known as fungal vaginal infections. Diflucan belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals.
The drug works by stopping the growth of the fungus on the vagina, which reduces the symptoms and reduces the inflammation of the urethra. Diflucan is usually taken twice a day, with or without food. The dose is usually taken once a day, with or without food. It should only be taken after a complete meal. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the infection being treated.
Diflucan works by inhibiting the activity of fungal cell membranes, which is why it’s commonly referred to as “the weekend pill”. This means it works as a longer-lasting treatment for vaginal thrush, but it does not eliminate the fungus entirely. It does not kill the fungus, but slows the growth and spread of the fungus.
It is important to note that Diflucan does not cure the fungus, and does not stop it from growing again.
Like any other medication, Diflucan may cause side effects. Although not everyone will experience side effects, some people do experience some of them, and they can vary from person to person.
Common side effects of Diflucan include:

If you forget to take a dose, you can skip the missed dose and take the next one as usual. Do not take two doses at once.
If you have missed a dose of Diflucan and it is almost time for your next dose, you may not be able to take it. If you have a scheduled dose for next day, you may skip the missed dose.
If you have missed a dose of Diflucan and you think you may have missed it, you may need to use a pill splitter (the medication to make the medicine work faster).
